JC Penney’s new ad for Father’s Day
The text reads:
“First Pals: What makes Dad so cool? He’s the swim coach, tent maker, best friend, bike fixer and hug giver—all rolled into one. Or two.” The text at the bottom reads: “Real-life dads, Todd Koch and Cooper Smith with their children Claire and Mason.”
I love Phillip DeFranco’s PDS for today. ”A while back, in February, we talked about how an anti-gay group ‘One Million Moms’ boycotted JCPenny because they had Ellen DeGenres as their main person. And JCPenny responded to the ‘One Million Moms’ boycott with eh, essentially a uh ‘Go frack yourself. We’re gonna keep Ellen because she represents the values of our company.’ And then the reason we’re talking about them today is that JCPenny was like ‘Okay we get it, you don’t like lesbians, next one won’t be a lesbian.’ And then they launched a Father’s day advertisement with two gay fathers and their children noting that the ad portrays real life dads Todd Koch and Cooper Smith with their children Claire and Mason.
JCPenny wins all.
I can’t love this enough. <3 JCPenny you rule.
